Welcome to a world of unparalleled flavor and cozy comfort with these Glazed Snickerdoodle Muffins. Imagine moist, tender, and incredibly decadent muffins, each bite infused with the warm, inviting essence of cinnamon, perfectly crowned with a luscious, gooey glaze. These aren’t just any muffins; they’re an experience, a delightful fusion of the classic snickerdoodle cookie in a soft, cake-like form, ideal for brightening any morning or serving as a special holiday dessert.
With the festive season quickly approaching, the Christmas countdown officially begins – only 22 more days until the big day! While this time of year brings immense joy, it also ushers in a flurry of activity. My to-do list seems endless: countless batches of holiday cookies to bake, new festive treats to create, piles of gifts waiting to be wrapped, and a daunting 15-page research paper looming over me. Phew! I’m currently knee-deep in research, battling deadlines and a severe lack of sleep. Honestly, if anyone feels inclined to deliver a box of fresh donuts to my doorstep, it would be an act of pure heroism that I would eternally appreciate. Sometimes, a little unexpected treat is all it takes to keep spirits high amidst the chaos.
Amidst the whirlwind of responsibilities, I’m thrilled to report that one major task has been triumphantly checked off: the Christmas decorating! I’m incredibly grateful to my wonderful mom and aunt, who graciously dedicated their time to help me deck the halls. Thanks to their efforts, our home has been transformed into a winter wonderland. The magnificent Christmas tree stands tall, adorned with twinkling lights and cherished ornaments. My beloved “snow babies” collection has found its rightful, prominent place, adding a touch of whimsical nostalgia. And yes, you read that right – I have a dedicated tree in my kitchen, absolutely glowing with an array of charming food-themed ornaments, bringing a unique culinary festivity to the heart of our home. Finally, the intricate nativity set is carefully assembled, radiating peace and tradition. Our house is now undeniably, delightfully festive, filled with warmth and holiday cheer!
While the festive decorations bring immense joy to me, my mischievous kitty, Watson, has a somewhat different interpretation of our holiday setup. He seems to believe the beautifully adorned Christmas tree is his own personal, elaborate jungle gym. His daily routine now includes napping peacefully under its lowest branches, embarking on exhilarating laps around its base, and, much to my chagrin, repeatedly dragging the tree skirt out from beneath it. I’m almost certain that one of these days, I’ll return home from work to find him perched triumphantly amidst the branches, perhaps batting at an ornament or two. Just the other day, I discovered one of my favorite cupcake ornaments suspiciously on the ground, perilously close to the trash can. That cat is truly out of control! In a desperate attempt to curb his playful destruction, I even bought him a brand-new catnip toy, hoping it would divert his attention from my precious decorations. Alas, my plan backfired spectacularly. The catnip only intensified his antics, sending him into a blissful, high-energy state where he galloped around the house like a delightfully drunken racehorse. His boundless energy and playful spirit are endearing, but definitely a challenge during the holidays.
Anyone in the market for a highly entertaining, albeit chaotic, feline companion this holiday season?

Glazed Snickerdoodle Muffins
Yield: 12 muffins
Total Time: 37 minutes
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 22 minutes
Ingredients:
Muffins
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room-temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon cream of tartar
- ¾ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 and 1/4 cups sour cream
- 1 and 1/4 cups cinnamon chips
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for coating)
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175°C). Grease 2 standard muffin tins thoroughly or line them with paper liners.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add the softened unsalted butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Cream the mixture for 3-5 minutes on medium speed, or until it becomes light, fluffy, and pale in color. Incorporate the vanilla extract, mixing until just combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to ensure they are fully incorporated into the butter mixture.
- In a separate, medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, cream of tartar, and freshly grated nutmeg. Make sure these dry ingredients are well combined to ensure even leavening.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and the sour cream to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure all ingredients are incorporated. Gently fold in the cinnamon chips by hand until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- In a small, shallow bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon to create the delicious cinnamon-sugar coating.
- Using an ice cream scoop or a large spoon, scoop portions of the muffin batter into the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll the batter around to coat completely, ensuring a generous and even covering. Be careful not to press your fingers into the batter while rolling to maintain its light texture. Place the coated muffins into the prepared muffin tins.
- Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until the muffins are beautifully golden brown and a wooden toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean. Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until the mixture is completely smooth and free of lumps. Adjust the consistency with a few extra drops of milk if it’s too thick, or a tiny bit more powdered sugar if it’s too thin.
- Once the muffins have cooled, generously drizzle the prepared glaze over the warm muffins using a spoon or a fork. Allow the glaze to set slightly before serving.
